In light of Mental Health Awareness Week, and especially with the added strain many people are feeling because of the lockdown, Councillor Bilqees Mauthoor has issued this statement about how we can all try and remain happy and healthy in the current circumstances:

“Now, more than ever, it’s vital we raise awareness of how vulnerable our mental health can be during these difficult times of self-isolation and social distancing. So an act of kindness goes a long way.

Reach out to colleagues, friends and family and show kindness and appreciation.

Engage in any community social media forums and get to know people who live in your street.

This is the best time to start a new hobby. Live in the present and make plans of what you want to achieve and what steps you need to take to get you there.

And never forget to smile!”
