Matt Turmaine has today [Saturday 16th July] been selected to stand as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Watford.

 

Matt has been working in the health and social care sector for eight years and previously worked for the BBC for 15 years. Born and raised in Amersham, Matt moved to Watford over a decade ago. Matt is a longstanding Labour member and became active in the Party when he was living in London in 2004. He successfully stood for election to Watford Borough in 2012, taking a seat from the Liberal Democrats. He contested the parliamentary seat in Watford in 2015 and took Labour from third place to second, pushing the Liberal Democrats into third place.

 

Speaking after his selection, Matt Turmaine said;

 

“I am honoured to have been chosen by the members of Watford Labour Party to represent them at the next General Election. I cannot wait to get stuck in and begin the hard work that will be needed to turn Watford red and put Keir Starmer into Number 10 Downing Street!

 

“As a local candidate, we will start the work immediately to make Watford a Labour gain at the next General Election, which for the good people of Watford cannot come soon enough.”
