Matt Turmaine
Councillor For Holywell

Matt was first elected to Watford Borough Council, representing Holywell ward in May 2012. He was re-elected in May 2016. Matt describes his reasons for becoming a councillor as:
– Representing my community and constituents
– Promoting political engagement
– Contributing to the cultural and economic development of our town
– Fostering harmony within our town’s diverse community
– Being a voice for the many, not the few
– Highlighting the impact of legislation on our community
He has served on a number of council committees, including budget panel, licensing committee, council functions, community safety partnership task group and development management committee. Matt has brought several motions to council and steered them to resolution.
In 2015, Matt was the parliamentary candidate for the Labour Party in the Watford constituency. Matt lives with his family in West Watford and says, “It’s a great honour to represent people from West Watford in the council. Living in the area means that I have a good understanding of the issues that impact all of us, day to day.”
