I was honoured to take part in a Zoom call to discuss the Indian Farmers protest on Saturday 13th February.
I wanted to show my support as an individual councillor and as the Leader of the Watford Labour Group for the brave and determined campaign by the Indian farmers.

It’s very important that we lobby the government here to protest at the human rights abuses by the Indian government.
There are half a million people in the UK who have a Punjabi background and we owe it to them to stand up for the basic rights of so many of their families in India.

We will be taking this issue to full council in Watford on a cross-party basis and will write a joint letter to the Foreign Secretary to complain to the Indian government on behalf of the farmers and their families.

Cllr Nigel Bell, Leader of Watford Labour Group, West Watford County Councillor and Holywell Councillor.
