In light of the revelations about the Prime Minister’s chief advisor, Dominic Cummings, Labour Group Leader, Nigel Bell, has issued this response:

“The statement from Watford’s MP, Dean Russell, that he understands the public’s ‘strength of feeling’ and the Prime Minister’s assertion that Mr Cummings did nothing wrong are woefully insufficient.

People in Watford have endured a great deal and made many sacrifices to help tackle the pandemic – it should not be one rule for them and another rule for the PM’s friends.

For the sake of clarity, to restore the public’s trust and because it is the right thing to do, the Prime Minister should sack Dominic Cummings, put this issue to bed and return to the work of tackling the virus.”
