Favour has been selected as Labour's Candidate for Meriden ward

"I am delighted to have been selected as the Labour candidate for Meriden Ward for the Council elections on 22nd May. I live here in the community with my daughter and am a governor of the local Berrygrove Academy.
Since Christmas I have been knocking on doors and delivering my newsletter. Many of you have told me you feel that Meriden and Garston generally gets a poor deal off the Liberal Democrats, who have become complacent and lazy.
You can see from this web page that I am busy working for you.
I hope you will agree that it's about time Meriden ward had a Labour councillor again who can stand up for local people. If you give me your support on 22nd May, I promise you that I will work tirelessly to make Meriden an even better place for us call to live."

Anne Joynes - Leggatts

Anne has lived in North Watford for the whole of her life. She is a new candidate having recently retired after a career in secondary education. She is concerned at the speed and volume of traffic in many parts of the ward. Anne is therefore campaigning for a 20 mph limit and safety measures in many residential roads.
Parking problems are also in Anne's sight. Pedestrians, wheelchair users and parents with buggies often have to walk in the road as parked cars are blocking the pavements. Matt would like to see better street cleaning in West Watford, where litter goes uncollected for long periods of time and fly tipping remains a problem. Matt strongly opposes the switching off of the street lights and believes that keeping the lights on would help prevent crime and accidents. He is also opposed to the development plans for Rembrandt House, which will create further congestion in a densely populated area of Watford and bring further traffic and parking problems to the Ward. Sue is an employment law barrister who lives in Kingsfield Road in the heart of Oxhey. As someone who travels with her job she is outraged that the street lights are turned off when she occasionally arrives home late after a long day in a distant court. As a runner around the ward she is also concerned the state of local pavements and the fact that the Liberal Democrats appear to have given up on Oxhey's parking problems. She is also fed up with the Lib Dems taking credit for improvements at Bushey station that have nothing to do with them. To contact Sue click here
Mark Nicholas - Stanborough

If elected Mark will be proud to represent a community he has lived in for his entire life. He is currently the Press Officer for Watford Amnesty International group and also the Fundraising and Events officer for Watford Hospital Radio.
The reason why he has decided to stand in this election is due to the cuts that are now being imposed by the Tory/Lib Dem government which are effecting local people.
He says this is all happening at a time when the Lib Dems locally refuse to take a cut in their allowances.
If elected, he will serve all the Community and will do his best to improve and enhance the quality of life throughout Stanborough ward. To contact Mark click here

He is retired, and worked for Amersham International for 30 years and then as a self-employed consultant in biotechnology for 11 years. His main interest lies in international politics, especially the Israel/Palestine conflict, and he is Secretary of Watford Friends of Salfeet. He believes UK politics are at a crucial point: if the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition has its way, large swathes of our social organisations built up over many years, and especially the NHS, will be privatised or simply abolished under the pretext of a far too rapid reduction of the deficit caused not by the previous Labour government but by the banks whose bonuses and structure are now back to normal.
