Strong Labour team at Town Hall

New Labour Leader Nigel Bell
Popular Holywell Councillor Nigel Bell is the new ‘Leader of the Opposition’ on Watford Council.
Supporting Nigel as Deputy Leader will be Jagtar Singh Dhindsa who will continue as Chair of the Council’s influential Budget Panel.
Leggatts Councillor Asif Khan will become Vice Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
Labour’s Leader Nigel Bell said; “We now have a strong team of eight Labour Councillors and we will hold the Liberal Democrat Mayor to account. We will provide strong opposition to the Coalition Government policies that are beginning to eat into the fabric of Watford’s communities and are being gleefully implemented by the Lib Dems.”
Nigel Bell was elected a Councillor for Holywell in 2007 and in 2009 received a letter from the then Prime Minister congratulating him on achieving the biggest swing to Labour in the UK following his re-election as a County Councillor for West Watford.
Jagtar Singh Dhindsa stood down as Labour Leader due to his increased work commitments. He is a PCS trade union official dealing with cuts in the prison service and the impact of pensions reforms.
