Stotesbury, Ian Alexander Eric
The turnout was 68% and it was a 16% increase in the Labour vote over 2015. This was the biggest swing to Labour in any Tory-held seat in the East of England. The Liberal Democrat vote completely collapsed.
Chris Ostrowski posted the following message on his Facebook site .
‘Many thanks to everyone in Watford for being part of such a fascinating election contest yesterday. It was a privilege to represent Labour at this election and I am particularly grateful for the people who voted Labour - with 24,639 votes we had more support than at any point in the last 20 years.
Labour are stronger than ever in Watford and with so many new members and volunteers we have every opportunity to win local and general elections in the coming years.
The amazing army of volunteers which we have formed is our greatest asset - please join us as we build on this fantastic result’
Can I add my thanks to all those members who volunteered and worked in Chris Ostrowski’s campaign. Your work ensured we had a fantastic result, albeit tantalisingly short of winning. We are now the only party which can beat the Tories in the next General Election in Watford. Chris has been an exceptional candidate for Labour and I am privileged to have worked with him on such a successful, intense and enjoyable campaign. It’s been great fun.

CHRIS OSTROWSKI SELECTED TO FIGHT WATFORD FOR LABOUR
Chris Ostrowski has been selected the fight the Watford Parliamentary seat for Labour at the General Election on 8 June.
Chris has fought parliamentary elections on three previous occasions – twice in the European Elections of 2009 and 2014 and once in 2009 in a Parliamentary by-election.
Married to Katie and with two young children (pictured here) who were both born in Watford Hospital, Chris lives in nearby St. Albans with his family. He and his wife run a Training Company teaching English Language to people whose second language is English (ESOL).
Chris's grand-father was a Polish airman who fought in the Second World War to keep Britain free, and who settled in England after the war.
Chris said, "I am very excited about the prospect of representing Watford. In particular I will be focusing on protecting our NHS in West Hertfordshire and to win funding for the redevelopment of Watford Hospital, which is long overdue. People will not forget that it was the Tory/Liberal Democrat Coalition that scrapped the previous modernisation plans.
“I have a special passion to tackle the growing inequalities and injustices in Britain, particularly in the provision of housing.”
Labour is the main challenger for the Watford seat coming second to the Tory Richard Harrington two years ago.
Mike Jackson, Watford Labour Party Chair said, "We are delighted that Chris will be our candidate and with the polls improving, we are convinced we can win this seat. The poor opinion poll ratings for the Lib Dems (8%) show they have no chance. This will be a two horse race."

MANCHESTER - A STATEMENT BY CHRIS OSTROWSKI
"The cowardly and barbaric attack in Manchester is a ghastly turn of events, and my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the loved ones who have been killed and injured.
We must not allow terrorism to derail our way of life, and we stand united with Manchester.
Our campaigning activity will be suspended today as a mark of respect to the victims and everyone affected by this tragedy."
