Labour stands firm as Tories collapse
Eleven Labour Councillors were elected on 5th May down from thirteen, whilst the Conservatives lost all their seats as a Liberal Democrat national targeted campaign won the most seats in Watford. Labour won all three seats in Holywell, Vicarage and Leggatts ward whilst in Callowland a closely run contest resulted in two Labour councillors being elected whilst Favour Ewudo missed winning the third seat for Labour by just 27 votes. In Central Ward Labour missed out by just 71 votes after a major boundary change. Labour Group Leader Nigel Bell said, "We are disappointed to lose two seats but overall it was a strong result for Labour in resisting the Lib Dem onslaught that wiped out the Tories. We will be the only party now able to hold the Lib Dems to account." The full election results can be read here.
